Tanesse, March 19, 1822, of the whole of the lot of ground designated by the No. 5 and part of Lot No. 4 in Square No. 2, the said lot of ground forming two distinct properties of which the dimensions are, French measure: the first composed of a portion of the said No. 5, measuring 40' front on Royal Street, between Barracks and Hospital streets by 110' of depth b.p.l., and the second, composed of part of Lot No. 4 and part of No. 5, measures 22' front on Hospital Street [Gov. Nicholls], between Royal and Conde (Chartres), beginning at a distance of 110' from the corner of Royal and Hospital, 80' of depth, b.p.l. With the brick buildings and dependencies thereon. The banquettes to be found in front of the said properties had been made after the plan adopted by the corporation, and by virtue of the ordinances of the City Council which had already been paid, as stated to us by the vendor.

The two lots of ground belong to the Said Community as being part of their establishment in New Orleans that had been conceded to them by the French Government, and also by virtue of an Act passed before G. R. Stringer, February 17, 1824, containing an exchange between the Nuns and the Government of the United States. By this Act of February 17, 1824, the U.S. Government, represented by Samuel H. Harper, Register, and James J. McLanahan, Collector, of the United States Land Office in New Orleans, authorized to this effect by a letter from the General Land Office in Washington, December 24, 1823 Signed by Geo. Graham, had abandoned in favor of the Said Nuns, all rights that the U.S. Government had, or would have, in their establishment in New Orleans.
