Fire. This morning about 4 o'clock, a fire broke out in the drug store of Mr. F. Duconge, one of the tenements of the fine three story brick buildings, No. 89 Chartres street, which, together with its contents was entirely destroyed. Mr. Duconge and family narrowly escaped with their lives. The roofs of the adjoining tenements occupied by E. Johns & Co. as a stationary, book store and printing office and containing in addition a large quantity of musical instruments, were almost entirely destroyed. Mr. Duconge, who occupied the third tenement as a dry good store suffered considerable loss; his valuable stock of goods being saturated with water, thrown upon them to extinguish the burning embers which fell from the roof... A fine new hose carriage which was exhibited at the Exchange a few days since, was on the spot and assisted in supplying the engines with a plentiful supply of water...
