Vieux Carré Commission Evaluation:
No change: main and service -- green; courtyard infill -- brown. One of a pair of three-story masonry stores with decorative lintels and a continuous wrought iron balcony, separated by a "garde de frise" at the third level, #317-21 Royal has an added balcony at the third level. The buildings were constructed for American entrepreneur Levi Pierce through the Bank of Orleans and owned by the Cuban merchant Manuel de Lizardi, 1833-59.
