Vieux Carré Commission Evaluation:

No change: yellow. Late Victorian (c. 1890) double cottage with an eclectic design blending Queen Anne and Italianate detailing. Within the past 20 years, the structure has been detrimentally altered by the infilling of its front porch and by the removal of two of its front openings.

Marguerite Marcelite Birot inherited a portion of the property from her brother, Thomas Birot and a portion from her mother, Mme. Catherine Tonnelier, wife of Thomas Birot, Sr. Other transaction: O. de Armas, Vol. 39/64. Thomas Birot acquired the property b donation from his aunt, Mme. Louise Birot, widow first of Francois Caisergues, widow second of Jean Francois Fogliardi, May 5, 1846. The said Thomas Birot having died before his mother, Mme. Catherin Tonnelier, widow of Thomas Birot, Sr., she together with her two daughters, Mme. Josephine Birot, wife of Theophile Guillaume Robert and Marguerite Marcelite Birot became sole owners of the property. By an act passed before O. de Armas, dated May 5, 1846 - Vol. 39/64, it appears that Mrs. Thomas Birot acquired, her daughter Josephine's portion, from Mr. Guillaume Robert the universal legatee of his wife, and at the death of the said Widow Thomas Birot, Marguerite Marcelite Birot as only heir of her mother, became owner of the whole of the said property.
