This sale was made pursuant to a judgment of partition rendered by the Civil District Court, September 16, 1892, No. 35,941 of said court, entitled "Succession of Widow J. Schweitzer".

The property was acquired by Jean Baptiste Labranche and his wife as a larger portion as follows: 1. By J. B. Labranche from Anthony Angelain by act before Louis Feraud, N.P., Feb. 2, 1835. 2. By J. B. Labranche from Anthony Angelain by act before Louis Feraud, May 6, 1835. 3. By widow J. B. Labranche from Municipality No. 1 by act before Felix de Armas, N.P., Feb. 28, 1839. 4. By Widow J. B. Labranche from Dr. F. F. Thomas by act before C. V. Foulon, N.P. July 23, 1839, and _____. 5. From Municipality No. 1 by an act before J. Cuvillier, July 7, 1840. The said portion of land was subdivided and built upon - the above lot being part of same and came into the possession of the Widow J. B. Labranche and her sons jointly as heirs of their father J. B. Labranche.

5th portion acquired. A lot of ground situated on Orleans Street measuring 35' 3 1/4" thereon, designated by the No. 6 and having a depth of 53' 10" fronting the Passage de la Bourse (Exchange Alley) 53' 10 3/8" on the opposite side line and 35' 2 1/4" width in the rear; conforming to a plan of Bougerol Surveyor of Municipality No. 1 dated Jan. 29, 1840. This lot is part of the site of the former old prisons and belongs to the Municipality No. 1 in virtue of the Act of Legislature of this State entitled "Act for Incorporation of the City of New Orleans," approved Feb. 17, 1805.
