"CHARRED REMAINS of a room in a French Quarter apartment are examined by 1st Dist. Fire Chief William McCrossen at 715 Royal st. Saturday. Artist Arch Schwartz, 60, said he returned from a shopping trip and found his second floor apartment ablaze. McCrossen estimated damage at $1,000 to the building and $200 to contents. Damage was confined to the bedroom and bath. Cause of the fire is under investigation."
