Vieux Carré Commission Evaluation:
No change: main building -- green; rear additions -- brown. In an act of 1826, the well-known but then bankrupt architect/builders, Gurlie and Guillot, sold the 2-story masonry townhouse at this address at a public auction. That act noted that the residence and other buildings on the property were constructed between 1818 and1826. Lacking Gurlie and Guillot's characteristic wooden cornice, this simple, early building has a central passageway (that has a 20th-century surround) and a wrought iron balcony at the second level, which was covered with a wooden overhang some years after the construction date.
