Square: 62 Lot Number: 18680
No change: main and two rear service buildings -- green. This 3-story masonry c. 1859 building in the Italianate style is marked by sumptuous detailing and a lively rhythm of its ground floor openings. This building, which uses advanced design concepts for its date of construction, still includes a floor plan that incorporated such Creole devices as a side passageway. Builder Peter Ross, who worked with architect William Freret on Canal Street's cast iron front Frois Building (1859) is named as the builder of this building. Perhaps William Freret was the architect.
