Vieux Carré Commission Evaluation:
Corner building and service building -- yellow with green stripes; construction connecting these two buildings -- yellow : to : main and service -- pink; connecting construction -- yellow. This property and the neighboring one at 905-07 St. Peter began as two c. 1820-30 Creole cottages with detached service buildings. By 1896 the corner building had the addition of a frame second floor in the late Victorian style. The infill section connecting the main and service buildings dates from the early 20th c. Until the 1960s the buildings had an attractive late Victorian covered gallery, supported on turned posts, that extended from 907 St. Peter around the corner to 707 Dauphine. [N.B: The Vieux Carré Commission lists this lot's address as 901-903 St. Peter/701-707 Dauphine. Today it is also includes 905-907 St. Peter, though the primary address remains on Dauphine.]
