"Gaiety Theatre burned on December 4, 1937... a two story brick structure... erected nearly 100 years ago and until about 35 years ago was used as an overall factory. The building was valued at $20,000, the contents at $25,000. About 10 years ago it was renovated by the present owners, Sam Ruffino, 628 St. Philip Street, Frank Di Giorgio, 1813 Bayou Road and Nick Evola, 2206 Royal Street... During the fire the roof collapsed... when the blaze was extinguished only the four walls remained."
