Vieux Carré Commission Evaluation:

Main and service -- green : to : main -- pink; rear wing -- orange (1965). An archival drawing from 1866 illustrates a 2-bay, 1 1/2 story masonry cottage with an attached carriageway on the site of 1119 Dauphine. Thus, the existing 2 1/2 story, 3-bay building was either constructed c. 1867 or remodeled heavily at that time, with a second floor added over the earlier cottage and cottage entrance. During a 1965 renovation for real estate promoter Sam Recile, all the front openings were reworked, including the addition of an arched entrance. The parapet cornice was removed, and the rear wing was demolished without a permit and then rebuilt.
