Vieux Carré Commission Evaluation:

1108 N. Rampart -- brown; 1112 N. Rampart -- green, except for portions of front façade; front façade of 1112 N. Rampart -- brown : to : 1112 N. Rampart -- pink; rear garage structure -- brown. Aerial photos show that this address features, on the Esplanade-side, a 2½-story, 3-bay, brick side-hall townhouse, which was constructed c. 1860 for Placide Forstall. In 1900, the property was bought by F. Laudumiey & Co., and the townhouse was transformed by the addition of a new parapeted cornice and a new section of the building on the Ursulines-side. The originally spacious garden and service area now has brown-rated garage structures. [N.B: The garage structure has lost its roof, although the walls and roof girders are still in place.]

Mme. Delphine Forstall purchased two lots from the succession of Placide Forstall, as described below: (1) A lot of ground measuring 40' front on Rampart by 110' depth F.M., with all improvements. This lot was designated by the No. 2 on the plan by Joseph Pilié, dated March 13, 1828 and forms part of the front portion of present-day 1112 N. Rampart (No. 23158). (2) Another lot of ground in the same square, measuring 42' 7" 4''' front on Ursulines by 131' 5" 2''' depth on the side nearest Rampart and 106' 6" 7''' on the opposite side-line, at which depth the lot widens 3' 10" 3''' towards Burgundy and thence has a depth of 24' 10" 3''', so that the lot measures 45' 9" 7''' width in the rear. This lot forms present-day lot 1025 Ursulines (No. 23162) and the rear portion of present-day 1112 N. Rampart (No. 23158). A copy of this plan drawn by Louis Pilié and dated January 17, 1859 is located in Planbook 68.2 of the New Orleans Notarial Archives. This lot is also designated by the No. 5 on plan by Joseph Pilié, dated March 13, 1828. The other front portion of present-day 1112 N. Rampart (No. 23158) was purchased by Placide Forstall from Adolph W. Pichot, and this was part of lot No. 3 designated on a plan of Joseph Pilié, dated March 13, 1828. It was also shown on plan by Cosmier, dated July 15, 1844. [N.B. This property was composed of three lots of ground, designated as No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 on a plan by Joseph Pilié, dated March 13, 1828. It was annexed to the Notarial Act of Felix de Armas, N.P., March 13, 1828, Vol. 14/412.]
